Chiapas erupted on the morning of 1 January 1994, laying bare all the contradictions of Mexican capitalism, if not global. One of the last redoubts of indigenous resistance against the Spanish domination, where more advanced culture flourished in pre-Hispanic America, with lush vegetation and unique biodiversity on the planet, Chiapas is also the place of the broader contempt against humans, and the worst violations of human dignity and culture of a people that keeps alive the memory of its former greatness and continues to update the legacy of their community experience and the respect for human beings, despite the 500 years of operation, insults and humiliations to which he was subjected.
The forgotten people, apparently oblivious to the national scene, awakened the nation on 1 January 1994 to prevent against the harmful effects of the entry into force of the Free Trade with North America and against the loss of their natural resources and most valuable human under the pretext of a supposed upgrade that does nothing to conceal the outlines of a new global system of a polarized and subordinate integration of Latin American peoples.
Tacho and Supplementing Chiapas history is marked by various struggles and conflicts over ownership and modes of land use. The expulsions of Indians are as common as additional land requirements of farmers, growers or producers of bananas. Under the guise of religious, ethnic or simply as arbitrary acts, expulsions confined to the Chiapas Indians in overcrowded conditions in the less fertile. The answers are many but often silenced by the force of a racism that justifies even death and a law for the exclusive benefit of the powerful. Chiapas is now a critical issue of global capitalist restructuring. It has the wealth of strategic importance to the global reproduction such as oil and for the present and future technological developments such as biosphere reserves. It has a strong cultural diversity, important when considering the varied demands of the labor market and the usefulness of the differentiation of codes of conduct, but also as a source of knowledge about the surrounding environment and its possibilities of use, which could provide new elements within different fields of technological innovation (biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, genetic engineering).

In this context, the FTA tends to encourage confrontation between the forms of use that could be called traditional land and environmental resources, and new, they propose a different use, often in opposition.
In Chiapas are not expressed only inter-bourgeois conflict that derive from a different design and use of natural resources but also the very limits of capitalist development, as it is an extreme case scenario of exploitation and cultural and political oppression of being human.
The economic and social progress of Chiapas, for its complexity and its ability to synthesize the fundamental contradictions of capitalism and regional Mexican, an object of study is important for social science and a privileged space construction and conversion history of utopia in possibility.
